RUMOR: Major Team-Up and New Villains Were Considered for Spider-Man 4

A new rumor for Spider-Man 4 claims that new villains were considered for the Wall-Crawler's newest cinematic outing. Before this bit of news, another rumor professed that Marvel Studios and Sony were at odds on Spider-Man 4's story.

Per The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez avowed that Marvel wanted to develop a street-level story for the aforementioned newest cinematic outing, having Spider-Man "team up with Daredevil to take on Wilson Fisk following the events of Daredevil: Born Again." Perez went on to further note, "Multiple villains from Spider-Man's lore were also in consideration for the plot of this film."

"New villains like the Maggia, Mister Negative, Spencer Smythe, as well as some old revamped villains such as MacDonald “Mac” Gargan as Scorpion, and even Aaron Davis as Prowler were being considered as a part of this movie," he concluded. "Marvel still intends to tell this story… but we may have to wait a bit longer." However, as neither Marvel Studios nor Disney have officially confirmed this rumor, it should be taken with a grain of salt at this time.
"Marvel still intends to tell this story… but we may have to wait a bit longer."

Tying into this, Perez delved into another rumor in March that affirmed that Peter Parker might become less prominent in his alter ego's life, conveying at the time, "The idea now moving forward is to give him a sense of independence. In his mind, Peter Parker is no more… but Spider-Man lives on." Perez further avowed that as the title of Spider-Man "continues to consume Peter's life little by little," Peter Parker "will take a back seat and continue to fade from existence slowly," concluding that this story point "can be compared to Robert Pattinson’s Batman in The Batman."

Tom Holland Will Return as Peter Parker
Putting the spotlight on Spider-Man 4 itself, leading man Tom Holland touched upon what his condition for reprising the role for Spider-Man 4 is in 2023, asserting that he and Marvel Studios were "actively engaging in conversations" about what it could look like and them "[finding] a way to do justice" to Spider-Man is another thing. Ironically, Holland had previously remarked that a part of him was unsure about sticking with the movie.

Spider-Man 4 currently does not have a release date.
